We're looking for writers who are fluent in both failure modes and case law — people with a technical or legal background in nuclear systems, aerospace, or regulatory analysis, who can work from the primary record instead of press summaries. No newsroom experience required. Precision does.
§1
What We're Looking For
- LitigationContributors who can follow a nuclear or aerospace dispute from filing through discovery and explain what actually decided it.
- RegulationWriters with working knowledge of NRC, FAA, or comparable regulatory frameworks, able to explain a rule's practical effect, not just its text.
- Engineering FailureContributors who can read a fault tree, an incident report, or telemetry data and reconstruct what happened.
- Strategic RiskWriters who can map regulatory or liability exposure before it becomes a filing — useful to counsel, not just interesting after the fact.
§2
How to Apply
- 1Send a note. A few lines on your background and the beat you'd want to cover.
- 2Include a writing sample. Published or not — we care more about clarity and rigor than byline history.
- 3Pitch one piece. A working title and two or three sentences on the angle, framed against our existing beats.
